on March 17,1955,Montreal fans rioted after first period of a Detroit/Montreal game,after "Rocket" Richard got suspended for rest of the season,for assaulting an official... the riot spilled outside onto the streets,and was one of the ugliest events,in NHL history,still to this day... by the way,Detroit was up,4-1,after first period,and won game by forfeit....
