a look at the current Lokomotiv Jaroslavl team...
Lokomotiv Jaroslavl has gotten off to a very very bad start, winning only once,in five games, getting only one point(a shootout loss),in their four losses, and with three points for a win, they are in 12th in the Western Conference... i am a true fan of the team... the goaltender on the team is a former NHL backup by the name of Curtis Sanford, best known for his time playing for the St. Louis Blues, while in the NHL... Sergei Plotnikov is the best player on the team coming off a spectacular IIHF World Championship performance, for Russia... Geoff Platt, and a brother of Alexander Galimov, who died in a hospital, five days, after the 7/September/2011 Yak-42 crash that wiped out the previous Lokomotiv Jaroslavl team,Emil Galimov, who is also a 2013 San Jose Sharks draft pick,is on the team... in four of the last five years(they missed the 2011-2012 season,of course),the team has finished in the top four teams in the KHL,including third last year... in their team history, they have won the championship three times, and being runners-up in 2008-2009... knowing their team history, they should improve, with forty nine games, left in the regular season... GO TRAIN....

Lokomotiv Jaroslavl game score...
Ak Bars 3,Lokomotiv Jaroslavl 2,shootout... if you went to this hockey game,in Kazan Russia, actually one of the oldest, and historic cities, after the twenty eight minute mark,in which Ak Bars and Lokomotiv Jaroslavl swapped goals,in a 2-2 tie,you could have gone to sleep,or even walked the city(you would have had more fun),then watch the end of this game... in the text written down for the third period, there is absolutely nothing... in the eight round shootout,Oskar Moller scored twice, including the shootout winner, for Ak Bars,to mercifully end this snoozefest for the crowd, that must have gone to sleep before the end of the game... note:i have to figure how the KHL runs their shootouts, because two players, one of each team, shot twice...
comments...
i will note the results later,of the Lokomotiv Jaroslavl/Ak Bars(KHL)game that has not started yet,in Russia...

NHL news...
NHL tweaked rule 38.4(finally)allowing broader discretion on "intent to blow whistle" calls in accordance to pucks going into the net... an example of this "major screwup" happening was on November 18,2009 when Dallas Stars played the Red Wings when Brad May shot a backhand shot short side into the net,and the referees disallowed the goal that would have tied the game at two, claiming that the whistle had been blown, when the audio, and video did indicate that it was not the case,at all... in fact, the puck was in the net for a good two or three seconds before the whistle was blown... the Stars won the game,3-1,that November night,in 2009... funny thing is that the video of the goal,on Yahoo, was labeled,"the screw of the year",by someone... it was that bad,folks... another funny thing is that i really remember that goal,honestly... it was one of many disallowed goals and major refereeing screwups that happened between the two teams at that time, including a quite memorable shootout goal allowed by Mike Leggo, from 30 feet away from the net, when in fact there was a referee that actually bumped into the goal, trying to see if the puck was in past Jimmy Howard, and he waved his arms in a safe motion, indicating that it was no goal... even the announcers for the Stars could not believe it,saying once that the shootout was going to continue, and then they said that the game was over... they were even stunned by the call by Mike Leggo... i called Leggo at that time something that was unmentionable, and,i believe,i said that he was the worst referee in the NHL,among other things that i can not mention on here, even now...
Lokomotiv Jaroslavl game score...
Metallurg Magnitogorsk 4,Lokomotiv Jaroslavl 1... the defending Gagarin Cup champions steamrolled Lokomotiv Jaroslavl, before a late goal by Lokomotiv Jaroslavl broke up the shutout... Danis Zaripov scored the first two goals for the defending champions...

commentary...
in a recent interview,Pavel Datsyuk,of the Red Wings, said that he hopes the Red Wings is not bitten by the injury bug too hard this upcoming season, because they basically have the same roster,as last season... this is good and also bad... last season, the Red Wings were a walking M*A*S*H unit, having as many as twelve players on the injured/reserve list,at one time, and most of the year, they had ten players on the injured/reserve list, including Datsyuk, and Henrik Zetterberg, their two big guns on the team... the good element of the injured/reserve list of players is that fact that the players on the Grand Rapids Griffiths (the Red Wings' American Hockey League affiliate)got major exposure in the NHL... in fact, twelve different players had game time in the Motor City, with the Red Wings, and nine players had their NHL debuts, most since 1991,when the Red Wings had thirteen players make their NHL debuts, that year... even though, the Red Wings have made the Stanley Cup playoffs twenty three straight years, they had only thirty nine regulation wins, and Datsyuk(a knee injury)and Zetterberg(back surgery)played in only about 54 games, apiece, before major injuries took them out of the lineup... now looking forward to this season, general manager Ken Holland has not signed any major free agent during this off-season,and does not seemed to be panicked about it... the fan base, however,is not too happy about the inactivity of the team over the off-season,period... the young players on the roster is actually a very good thing, but the inexperience of those players is also a major drawback, for the Red Wings,as they go through this upcoming NHL season... if the Red Wings can be a relatively healthy team, they will be a very good team, this year... let us talk about the Stanley Cup playoff series against the Boston Bruins, even though the Red Wings got Pavel Datsyuk back into the lineup,he was not 100% healthy(he was struggling through most of the second half of the season, including the Sochi Olympics, with a very painful/injured knee),but he won game one with a highlight goal,1-0,no other Red Wings' player had a very good playoff series... that is where the inexperience of the team came into focus, because of the experience of the Bruins, during the past few playoff runs paid a dividend to the Bruins, against the young, but undermanned, and inexperienced Red Wings, because the Red Wings played poor defense, and had a non-existent offense, during the Stanley Cup playoffs, scoring only six goals during the series with the Bruins,in five games, losing four games to one... back to Holland,he has done very little to change the roster, since Nicklas Lidstrom retired, except improve the Griffiths' roster, which does help, and the free agents from last off-season did very little to help the main roster,so the fans are more than a little nervous, about this upcoming season... i guess Holland is hoping that the roster remains intact, and last year's free agents(i.e. Stephan Weiss, and Daniel Alfordsson, who remain unsigned, but could sign during training camp-contempting retirement)have much better seasons... Weiss had four goals in twenty six games, before being on the injured/reserve list most of the season... Alfordsson had very good numbers last season, but also was injured a few games last season, like most everyone on the roster,at one time,or another... so what team is going to show up-the very good team, whose roster can be a playoff team,or is it the walking M*A*S*H unit, that was the Detroit Red Wings, last season??? simply flip a coin, and see for yourself...

NHL news...
the agent for free agent goaltender Martin Brodeur, who has 688 wins, says that his client wants 700 wins,in his NHL career, and wants a team to go far in this year's Stanley Cup playoffs,so he is being picky on who he wants to play for... there is a possibility that he may not play this upcoming season, but there are teams that may need a goaltender in net...

commentary...
the funny thing about the NHL and their collective front offices over the off-season is that things change, and some general managers talk about change... there are two teams that basically did nothing to help their teams(the Red Wings, and the Sharks)... more later on the Red Wings, and i really do have to say something about the Red Wings(i am not happy about them)... however, this is about the Sharks right now,so here i go... let me take you back to last season,as a backdrop:the Sharks had a great regular season(111 points),and blitzed the Los Angeles Kings in the first three games,in their first round series, and making Jonathan Quick look like a paper goaltender, but then the Sharks' scoring dried up like chaff, scoring only four,or five, goals,in last four games.that absolutely doomed the Sharks,in an epic team collapse... the front office then talking a good game about "rebuilding" the team in the aftermath of being the fourth team in NHL history to lose a best of seven game series, after being up 3-0,in games, and then the Sharks signed some enforcers, traded away some good talent, and did not re-sign some other talent, and signed no good players,in free agency... the main reason that the Sharks lost to (now)the defending Stanley Cup Champions Los Angeles Kings was that their stars stopped scoring goals, and their third and fourth lines did not pick up the slack in the scoring, and a good team like the Kings did make adjustments in stopping the Sharks... the Sharks still have not fixed the main problem(the lack of secondary scoring)that helps to make good teams great teams... no doubt that the Sharks are a playoff team this upcoming season, but regular seasons only count because of playoff seeding, basically, and are the Sharks serious Stanley Cup contenders??? well, people talk, and teams play, and unfortunately, the Sharks can talk a good game about being contending for the Stanley Cup,but the front office are not the players on the ice playing, and there are too many teams in the Western Conference, who are proven, and better playoff teams than the Sharks, right now... unfortunately, for the Sharks, all the talk in the world will not change that...
blog statement...
my blogs today(NHL)will talk about the San Jose Sharks, and (NFL)will talk about the pundits who are still talking about Michael Sam,and his NFL future...
