Red Wings' game score,and commentary...
Blackhawks 4,Red Wings 1... the Red Wings have sucked in the last two games... the Red Wings have had only TWO power play goals in the last nine games... what great power play!!!! NOT!!!! watching the Red Wings lately is absolutely ugly and scary... had to turn off sound because i hate the Blackhawks' announce team... they suck!!!!!! i knew that having Pavel Datsyuk sick with an illness today,that the Red Wings were in trouble... Blackhawks scored their first goal 21 seconds into the game and their second goal less than six minutes later in the first period... after a goal to cut their lead to 2-1,the Red Wings did absolutely nothing,and in the third period the Blackhawks scored two more goals,in 1:08,midway through the period to blow open the game... to tell you how bad the game was,the Red Wings pulled Petr Mrazek,after 6:19 of the first period... he had suffered a minor groin injury two games ago against the Colorado Avalanche... i hope he was not injured anymore...

the Red Wings are in the last six weeks of the NHL season,so right now,they are on their last extended break... they played the Chicago Blackhawks,last night(got stomped,5-2),and they play again,on Sunday afternoon,against guess who??? the Blackhawks,in Chicago... they better come out on fire(start very fast),and shoot at the goal like a machine gun... laughing,because they really stunk up Joe Louis Arena,last night...

Red Wings 3,Stars 2,overtime... in a very good game,Red Wings finally break a 0-20 power play outage,when Pavel Datsyuk smacked a rebound into the net,with a soft slap shot,in overtime... Andreas Athanasiou scored two goals,for the Red Wings,as Colton Sceviour and Vernon Fiddler scored goals,for the Stars,to send game into overtime,then Datsyuk did his magic in overtime...

Red Wings 5,Avalanche 3... Red Wings scored two goals in forty one seconds,actually in the last minute of the game,to win a game that looked like an overtime fight for one point(both teams get one point,if they go into overtime)... the game winning goal was scored by Brad Richards,with exactly one minute left in game,then an empty net goal was scored with nineteen seconds,to put the game away... Tomas Tatar,Gustav Nyquist,Justin Abdelkader,and Darren Helm scored the other Red Wings goals... a very big two points for the Red Wings,tonight... note:i really hate the outdoor game in a baseball or football stadium,because it is very hard to follow the passing of the puck,and the glare off the ice was mind numbing...... it is like ants running around...

alumni game score...
Avalanche alumni 5,Red Wings alumni 2... Avalanche seemed to want it more,but i loved it to remember the rivalry,between the two best teams in the NHL,from 1996-2003... i did applaud both teams,when they were introduced,and you could tell that both teams wanted to win,but honestly,the Avalanche shot the puck much better than the Red Wings,tonight...

Hockey Hall of Fame member Andy Bathgate passed away,at 83,today... known mainly as a New York Rangers' great,he played also with the Vancouver Canucks,Pittsburgh Penguins,and the Detroit Red Wings... he played hockey(various leagues,including junior hockey,and the WHA),from 1948-1975...

Red Wings/Avalanche alumni game,tonight... note:i really do not expect fireworks,but with these two teams' alumni,who honestly knows??? it will be fun to see both teams' all-time stars on the ice,even though,i may have a bias and "hatred" for the Avalanche... funny thing about this game:i actually was a fan of the Avalanche,because when the franchise moved from Quebec City(i was a big fan of the Quebec Nordiques),they actually won the Stanley Cup their first year in Denver,by beating the Florida Panthers in four games... one of those games was a triple overtime 1-0 thriller(Uwe Krupp scored the goal),and i saw the game living in Reno(my then roommate turned shortly into an ass,and being roommates ended in a verbal spat)... for being a fan of the Quebec Nordiques,i was happy,because that Stanley Cup winning team was basically the same team that moved from Quebec City... so,tonight,i will smile broadly when the game is on,hoping to see some nastiness,but still memories of those years of both teams fighting for the Stanley Cup every year will flood over my mind,during the alumni game...

Saturday:Red Wings/Colorado Avalanche,at Coors Field,in Denver... note:the alumni game should be a little more interesting,because players on both teams do not want anything to do with each other,in the pre-game festivities... they still hate each other,especially Claude Lemieux and everyone on the alumni roster,for the Red Wings... goaltenders Patrick Roy,and Chris Osgood actually fought each other at center ice,in one of their games... expect Roy,who is now the Avalanche's head coach,to play in the alumni game... it looks like that Osgood will not play... the Red Wings' announcers basically begged Osgood to play... personal note:i used to circle all four games,when the Red Wings played in the Western Conference,and took glee,in how both teams "hated" each other... i remember the last playoff game between the two teams:Red Wings 7,Avalanche 0,when Roy tried a Statue of Liberty stop of the puck (raising of puck above head),and the puck rolled out of his glove,and was tapped into his own net,by the Red Wings... he gave up six of the seven goals,that day... funny thing is that if you got him mad and rattled,he usually played like crap,and the Red Wings always knew how to rattle him,at critical times...

Rangers 1,Red Wings 0,overtime... Rangers and Red Wings have played sixty minutes of shutout hockey... Oscar Lindberg,of the Rangers,got a goal disallowed,when he clipped Jimmy Howard with a flying leg,in the facemask(goaltender interference),as he went to the net,as puck was shot... Rangers scored in overtime,as they scrambled for puck,in front of Howard... note:best game for Howard,period... first time that Red Wings have been shut out this season...

Ottawa Senators 3,Red Wings 2,shootout... i hate the shootout!!!! good game for Petr Mrazek,and the Red Wings get a critical point,and both teams had odd goals go into the net... a broken stick caused by a slash,as Brendan Smith was shooting the puck from behind the Red Wings net,his stick became like spaghetti,and a soft pass turned into a turnover,and goal,for the Senators' first goal,and a deflection off the stick of Erik Karlsson went through the legs of their own goaltender,for a Red Wings' goal... that is hockey... things like that happen... that still sucks...

Islanders 4,Red Wings 1... the Red Wings have some team effort,but after five games in eight days,they are very tired... Jimmy Howard has been his usual miserable self,giving up three goals in less than eight minutes,in the second period... for a goaltender who is 0-5-3(including today),his last eight games(trailing at this point 4-1,less than three minutes left in game,so another loss is obvious),his head must not be in the game,because honestly,he has not been the same goaltender since his groin injury shortly after being named a All-Star,last season... what a mess,today!!!! note:Pavel Datsyuk did score his third goal in his last two games...

Colorado Avalanche/Red Wings,tonight... note:this game is tamer than in the past,but the Altitude(Avalanche's television network)play by play man said a couple years ago that Red Wings' Niklas Kronwall,who was hurt during that day's game,deserved to be hurt,so i stopped watching that broadcast,and have not watched them since... second note:the game between the teams this year,in Denver,will be played outdoors,at Coors Field,later on this month...

Red Wings 3,Senators 1... another outstanding effort by Petr Mrazek(over 130 minutes of shutout time,over two games,before the Senators scored in third period)... what a real stud!!! record over last twelve games for him:9-2-1(going into tonight's game,his save percentage in last eleven games was an unconscious .955)... to me,he is the team's most valuable player(MVP),without a shadow of a doubt... his overall play is the only reason that the Red Wings are in the playoff position(2nd in the Atlantic Division)that they are in,folks... honestly,if he is not a finalist for the Vezina Trophy(best goaltender in the NHL),there are thieves(laughing),at NHL Headquarters...

Red Wings 5,Islanders 1... a zamboni accident delayed the third period,for over thirty minutes,scrapping the ice down to the concrete,and that took the fun out of the game for me... as for the game,five straight Red Wings' goals,including a goal by Dylan Larkin,bulldozed the Islanders... Larkin leads the NHL,in plus/minus,with a plus/minus number of +26,and if he is not a finalist for the Calder Trophy(rookie of the year),there is a crook in NHL headquarters(laughing)... it is the first home win for the Red Wings,since December 20th,a span of 48 days(0-6-1,in that span)... that is ugly,period... first game of a six game homestand...

Panthers 6,Red Wings 3... simple statement of fact:as a backup this season,Jimmy Howard really sucks in goal... Dylan Larkin had two goals,for the Red Wings,but everybody else never showed up,especially Howard,who basically played like a stone statue with no reflexes,period,as the Panthers shot five goals in net,as he was standing still not making a move...

Lightning 3,Red Wings 1... hat tip to Ben Bishop,and the Lightning... however,Petr Mrazek is 7-2-1,in last ten games,for the Red Wings that he has played... for a team that,going into tonight,has averaged 2.47 goals/per game,the Red Wings did absolutely nothing in the last two periods offensively,and the Lightning power play that had two power play goals doomed the Red Wings,tonight... how thin is the edge between the Red Wings being good or bad is the startling fact that eighteen of their twenty five wins have been by one goal,and if the goaltending had not been as great as Mrazek has been this season,the Red Wings would have been very bad,most of the season,instead of occasionally,like tonight... note:i absolutely despise NBC and their announce teams,because it is obvious that they are "homers",or simply biased toward the better team... i actually like the Canadian announce teams better,except Montreal or Toronto,because they actually have some balance,in their teams(they may have a bias,but at least,they have pride in all Canadian NHL teams)...

Red Wings are third in Atlantic Division,but are tied with the Tampa Bay Lightning,who they play tomorrow,and it is very tight in the race,in the Atlantic Division,with the Boston Bruins,one point behind both the Red Wings,and the Lightning,which makes the game tomorrow critical for both teams...

Red Wings are 6-1-1,against the Sabres,in Buffalo,in last eight games,there... how good is goaltender Petr Mrazek??? in his last seven games,in goal,he is 5-1-1,with a save percentage of .963,and with goals against average(G.A.A.),of 0.99,and has two shutouts,in his last seven games... he has,overall,three shutouts for this season... three goals in third period broke open a tight game... Sabres were looking to take advantage of a Red Wings' mistake,and no mistake was coming,tonight,as Red Wings clamped down on the Sabres,in third period... however,the Red Wings' scoring has been basically hard to come by,recently,because they have only scored three goals,in regulation twice,in last twelve games... that is the reason Mrazek has been that good...

commentary...
before i go do what i have to do:i said that i would talk about last night's Red Wings' game against the Arizona Coyotes... Arizona scored two goals in the second period,to go up 2-0,and it honestly looked like the Red Wings were going to lose halfway through the third period... before that period,the Red Wings were 0-9 on the power play,including 0-1,in this game,in the last five games,and were facing a goaltender for the Coyotes,who had a save percentage of .932 for the games that he had played,so far,this season... long odds,right??? well,the Coyotes got sloppy,and gave the Red Wings life,with two penalties,that turned into power plays,and Pavel Datsyuk shot a seeing eye puck on a rocket into the net to cut lead to 2-1,from 45 feet out,and Gustav Nyquist beat everyone to the puck on a scramble in front of the net to tip the puck home,to tie game at two,on the other power play... in overtime,Petr Mrazek stoned a point blank shot by the Coyotes on a beautiful stop,and then Dylan Larkin missed a opportunity to win game,when the puck rolled off his stick on a backhand shot,but he recovered,circled around,and fed Danny DeKeyser with a soft backhand pass,and DeKeyser did not miss the back of the net with the overtime game winning goal(GWG)...

why are the San Jose Sharks sixth in the Pacific Division,and thirteenth in the Western Conference??? answer:they have won only five games,overall,at home... note:the Pacific Division really stinks:the Vancouver Canucks,who are third in the Pacific Division,also are tenth in Western Conference,but are only three points ahead of the Sharks... unfortunately,for the Sharks,they are sixteen points behind the Los Angeles Kings,but only a point ahead of the Edmonton Oilers,in fourteenth,and last place,in the Western Conference... really unfortunately,the Oilers are playing the Tampa Bay Lightning,tonight,in Edmonton... Red Wings 1,Devils 0... best defensive game of the season,period... Dylan Larkin scored early in the first period,on a gorgeous backhand shot past Devils' goaltender Cory Schneider... Schneider deserved better tonight,but defense by the Red Wings,and Petr Mrazek was one shot better tonight...

Red Wings 4,Sabres 3... an ugly game to watch... all three goals by the Sabres came off weird bounces,and one huge tripping over the opposing player,or over their own feet... Jack Eichel scored two goals;the second goal was because of a bad pass,and people tripping over one another,and it basically turned into a shootout goal(shot off the right goalpost and then off the crotch of Petr Mrazek and into the net),to tie game at two,as Eichel slid by the net... a very good two points after three straight games,with nothing to show for the effort...
