commentary...

the funny thing about the NHL and their collective front offices over the off-season is that things change, and some general managers talk about change... there are two teams that basically did nothing to help their teams(the Red Wings, and the Sharks)... more later on the Red Wings, and i really do have to say something about the Red Wings(i am not happy about them)... however, this is about the Sharks right now,so here i go... let me take you back to last season,as a backdrop:the Sharks had a great regular season(111 points),and blitzed the Los Angeles Kings in the first three games,in their first round series, and making Jonathan Quick look like a paper goaltender, but then the Sharks' scoring dried up like chaff, scoring only four,or five, goals,in last four games.that absolutely doomed the Sharks,in an epic team collapse... the front office then talking a good game about "rebuilding" the team in the aftermath of being the fourth team in NHL history to lose a best of seven game series, after being up 3-0,in games, and then the Sharks signed some enforcers, traded away some good talent, and did not re-sign some other talent, and signed no good players,in free agency... the main reason that the Sharks lost to (now)the defending Stanley Cup Champions Los Angeles Kings was that their stars stopped scoring goals, and their third and fourth lines did not pick up the slack in the scoring, and a good team like the Kings did make adjustments in stopping the Sharks... the Sharks still have not fixed the main problem(the lack of secondary scoring)that helps to make good teams great teams... no doubt that the Sharks are a playoff team this upcoming season, but regular seasons only count because of playoff seeding, basically, and are the Sharks serious Stanley Cup contenders??? well, people talk, and teams play, and unfortunately, the Sharks can talk a good game about being contending for the Stanley Cup,but the front office are not the players on the ice playing, and there are too many teams in the Western Conference, who are proven, and better playoff teams than the Sharks, right now... unfortunately, for the Sharks, all the talk in the world will not change that...
