commentary...
the game against the Flames was a typical Red Wings' win,and game from this up and down season... the Red Wings got off to a 2-0 lead, after Pavel Datsyuk, and Henrik Zetterberg scored, the Red Wings dominated the period, looked like a team that could be very good, and then the sloppy Red Wings returned, for a period, and they played ole' defense on the Flames,as Chris Butler, and Sean Monahan scored 2:32 apart,to tie game at two... the second goal by Monahan was an example of the lax defensive effort that,at times,Detroit has had this season... Monahan just skated through the Red Wings' defense like melted butter, and shot puck past Jimmy Howard... after getting their rear ends chewed by head coach Mike Babcock, they tightened their team defense up,as Joakim Andersson scored early in the period, and the Red Wings played stellar team defense, forcing the Flames to the outside of their offensive zone,as minutes ticked off the game, then Justin Abdelkader scored the game-winner just as the clock passed the four minute mark,at 16:36,and as the clock ticked off the time,Curtis Glencross scored a goal,at 19:50,that absolutely looked like a lost puck that crawled over the goal line... it was a tap-in,but the puck found the goal with its last roll,as the Flames and Red Wings had a scrum in front of the net... what a fitting end to a strange game...
