commentary...
if you are a fan of the San Jose Sharks(and my father is),general manager Doug Wilson has seemed to missed the proverbial memo on why the Sharks collapsed in an epic way, against the Los Angeles Kings, losing in seven games, after being up 3-0,in their first round series... first of all, most of their core players are aging, and have no movement clauses,in their contracts, and even though they are very good, age in the NHL is not a good thing... second on my list is the fact is that the Sharks are easier to play as a team than an egg of Silly Putty on a comic strip(Silly Putty comes in plastic eggs),with a core roster that has not been overhauled in years... the last two years, the Red Wings have had the same problem, but unlike the Sharks, the Red Wings have a very good farm system to improve their team, and the Red Wings got devastated with a rash of injuries last season... to go back to the major subject of this commentary,Wilson and head coach Todd McLellan built the Sharks to beat the Red Wings, and they did, unfortunately(for Red Wings' fans),but they forgot about the other 28 teams in the NHL... their coaching staff is very good, but they have not changed the way that they play the game, overall,in almost a decade, which is very poor in terms of the overall play of the NHL... question to the braintrust of any NHL team:would your team play a game like it was 2004,not 2014??? answer:no,because your team would be beat 90% of the time... Wilson has said that the Sharks are rebuilding as a team, but unfortunately, they are rebuilding the team like it was 2004,not 2014... the main reason that the Sharks lost to the Kings was a severe lack of secondary scoring(from the back end of the roster),and very lousy goaltending, and yet,if you look at who the Sharks have signed(and traded)this offseason, the problem still remains, because like i said earlier, the Sharks' front office has no clue on how to build a playoff series winner, let alone a Stanley Cup winner, and until they get a clue on how to do it,they will languish in stupid idiocy, and remain a playoff team(if that) that can not win anything, and stay far away from the Stanley Cup... i place the blame strictly on an inept general manager, and a coaching staff that has no clue on how to win,period... i honestly feel sorry for the Sharks' fanbase, because they are a rabid bunch of fans, who really deserve a legitimate shot at a Stanley Cup...
