commentary...
halfway into this NHL season(game 42),the Red Wings seem to be a very good team most nights, but last night disturbed me no end,losing,5-1,to the New York Islanders,in New York, where the Red Wings have not won,in FIVE years(i repeat, five years)... the game would not bother me so much, but it was the total lack of effort,on everyone's part, and to use the excuse of three games,in four nights,is basic hogwash, because the Islanders have been at,or near, the bottom,of the Eastern Conference, for years, and the goaltender was their backup,Evgeni Nabokov, who was signed,by the Red Wings, last season, but was claimed by the Islanders, off waivers, because he came back from the KHL,last season, and had to go through waivers, before getting back into NHL... watching the game, last night, for a fan,was terrible, and the effort was rather disgusting, for a team, who fought for first place,in Central Division, and was second in Western Conference, before puck drop, last night... there have been games this season(not too many)that Red Wings seem disinterested in playing, and unfortunately last night was a blown chance,to stamp out how good this team could be,because they have been very streaky,in wins, and losses... when they win, they look like the best team in NHL,and when they lose, they look like they can not hit a side of a barn with a puck, from two inches away, which means that they simply stink, and recently,in last eleven games, they are 6-5,so who is this year's Red Wings? are they the team who absolutely blew chunks all over New York, last night,or are they the team that beat Chicago,in dramatic fashion(in overtime),the other night... like Mike Babcock said earlier,is it time to stand up and be counted,or is it time,to totally collapse, and be just an average team.... i bet 23 members of the team would say,"Stand Up,and Be Counted"... which team is it,BOYS!!!!!!
