commentary...

honestly, going into last night's game between the Blackhawks, and the Red Wings,i thought that the Red Wings were going to lose, because they were missing ten regulars out of their lineup, including both opening day goaltenders(Jimmy Howard, and Jonas Gustavsson)... however,i forgot one thing:the Blackhawks do not like the Red Wings, and the Red Wings do not like the Blackhawks;it was an old Central Division matchup... so,Darren Helm,Jonathan Ericsson, and Gustavsson returned to the undermanned Red Wings' lineup... with nine minutes left the Red Wings were down 2-0,on a goal that deflected off Marian Hossa's shin, and into the net,and the second goal was almost as bizarre as the one that tied the Kings' game, not in air time, but the puck bounced around like a jumping bean,or even a hot potato,as Gustavsson tried to corral puck, but the puck avoided him,as Andrew Shaw swept puck into net,for goal number two... at that point, down 2-0,the Red Wings could have folded easily, but the Red Wings scored twice in 6:26,of game time,to tie game,at two, after one period... the last two periods were your typical old Central Division dogfight, with neither team giving an inch, period, with both teams exchanging goals, and leads, and game ended regulation tied at four, and in a shootout,Darren Helm,in the sixth round, ended a eventful shootout that saw Todd Bertuzzi score a shootout goal that tied shootout,at two... he was the last of the three picked Red Wings originally to be in the shootout... even then, the Red Wings refused to lose game, and they showed a lot of grit... my opinion:the problem with the Red Wings, this season is that they have had major injuries, and the team has not been healthy most of the year... however,no excuses:they showed the heart of a true champion, undermanned, but never quitting...
