commentary...
the Red Wings have started to win at home(winning three of last four games),which is bad news for the NHL... now, three points, out of third place in the Atlantic Division(guaranteed playoff spot),behind the Montreal Canadiens however, lately, the Canadiens are having trouble stopping pucks... Canadian Olympic team member, goaltender Carey Price tied a nearly 70 year Canadiens' record,by allowing four,or more, goals in last six games... one of the goaltenders who share that record is Georges Vezina(played for Montreal from 1910-1911,to 1925-26(he played one period of the 1925-1926 opener, collapsed in second period, retired because of tuberculosis, and died on March 27 ,1926),the namesake for the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender in the NHL... well, back to the game, the Red Wings dominated the second and third period,in playing very good team defense, and the Canadiens played give away in their defensive zone most of the night, and Carey could not stop a puck last night, when it was needed, and the Red Wings swarmed all over Montreal most of the last two periods, and it really could have gotten very, very ugly-score wide,in the game... the Canadiens are a good team, but like the Red Wings, they go through stretches of very bad play... the Red Wings still have seven players on injured reserve,so they may sputter along for a week or two more then get healthy, just before or after the Olympic break... so,watch out,NHL...
