commentary,and analysis...
game started very good for Red Wings, who scored first three goals, and played very good defense for first two periods, allowing only one goal, until the Blues got rolling in third period... unfortunately, the Red Wings got sloppy in third period, but the goals, scored by St. Louis, were not soft goals let in by Jimmy Howard, and that was a positive, but the goals were just very beautiful,as a true hockey fan... the Central Division plays very tough, and close games,so the comeback,by the Blues, was expected,by me... they played an zero-zero tie,in the past, and they do not like each other,so teams in the Red Wings' division, for the most part, play high-scoring games, but do know how to play defense... the Blues do not have enough firepower to regularly beat Red Wings, but they know how to scrape, and dig,for goals in front of the net,and the fact that it is the Red Wings playing the Blues makes it a total fight, and the Blues have had real pests,to irritate the Red Wings, over the years... Chris Osgood, and Manny Legace have played for the Blues,in goal, after playing for the Red Wings,so they know each other so well... there were no power play goals, and honestly, there were only three power plays, between both teams, last night, which is unusual for both teams, but honestly, both teams were very dinged up,by injuries... Detroit scored three goals(Patrick Eaves,in first period,Todd Bertuzzi, and Jakub Kindl-his first NHL goal, both in second period),then St. Louis scored three goals(T.J. Oshie,in the second period,Patrik Berglund, and David Backes,in third period, forcing overtime),and then 1:51 into overtime,Darren Helm scored the overtime winner, for Red Wings' 4-3 win... very strong game,by both teams, and a fun game to watch...
