this is a story about the City of Montreal,and the first player who entered the Baseball Hall of Fame,as a Montreal Expo... the Canadiens honored his memory,with a very sweet pre-game ceremony,before their game,today... in his time,as an Expo,he may have been one of the best catchers,in the National League... i still deeply remember the Expos,coming from Montreal,to play the San Francisco Giants,and i was very,very sad when the team left Montreal... during 1994,before the cancellation of that World Series,the best team in the Major Leagues,without a doubt,was the Montreal Expos,and i still find very shameful that the best Montreal Expo team,of all-time,never got their chance to show Montreal,and Major League Baseball their championship mettle,in that year's playoffs... Carter was a very big supporter of the City of Montreal,and showed up a few times,at Canadiens' games... they retired his number 8,in Montreal... during the pre-game ceremony,the Expos' mascot,Youppi,who was adopted by the Canadiens,after the Expos left,came out on the ice,and just stood silently,in his old Expos' shirt,and when the team asked the crowd for a moment of silence,you could hear a pin drop...
