what are origins of the Red Wings?
they go back to the Western Hockey League, when the roster of the Victoria(British Columbia) Cougars was sold to a group of investors, from Detroit,on September 25,1926... they were awarded a franchise on May 15,1926,by the NHL... they played in Windsor,Ontario... the Cougars had won the Stanley Cup in 1925,and was in the final, the next year... at that time,Stanley was played for by amateur/professional teams throughout Canada, and the winner was called the best team in Canada. the Red Wings were known as the Cougars, and then the Falcons... the record of the Cougars the very first year,in the NHL,was 12-28-4,in 1926-1927,worst in league...
