Western Conference standings are so tight,that teams that are on losing streaks,right now,or teams who win one/lose one,are in trouble(Red Wings,Sharks),of losing their good seeding,for a bad seeding,in the playoffs,or not making the Stanley Cup playoffs,respectively... San Jose,right now,is tenth in the conference,but only a point behind Phoenix Coyotes,and Dallas Stars,who leads the Pacific Division... they are also tied with Los Angeles Kings(but because regulation/overtime wins,they are in fourth place in that division)...
Red Wings,three weeks ago,were the best team,in the NHL,but injuries,horrible bad luck,and lousy defense,has put the Red Wings in fifth place,in Western Conference... five players who were in Grand Rapids(AHL team),three weeks ago,played with the Red Wings,last night,which is never a good sign,for a team... however,the injury bug may be relieving the Red Wings,soon... Nicklas Lidstrom may play this coming weekend,and the others may be back before the season ends,but team chemistry may not be what it was,until the first round of the playoffs begins,so i still may not want to play the Red Wings,in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs,whereever Detroit ends up in seedings...
San Jose still worries me because they are inconsistent,in their play:win one/lose one still,and now giving Dallas,Phoenix,and Los Angeles,a chance to steal the Pacific Division,and if one of those teams does it,the Sharks are in trouble,of not making the playoffs,because of lack of regulation/overtime wins,overall...
